HEY ALL!
You know you love Jen Crowell
You know you love Blues and Lasers even more
You love them so much you want to come to a show to help raise money for Blues and Lasers to go to San Francisco
It won’t hurt one bit
Just come hear great music by Jen Crowell and Steve Sharon and Benny Yurco
Come give some money to the airline ticket bucket
Come have a good brew on tap or another tasty beverage
You won’t regret this evening…you may even wake up on Friday and remember it
If Potter has her role models, she also has the Hammond B-3 chops and unself-conscious nerve to name-check “Cat Scratch Fever” without irony and to sing her guts out like there’s no classic-rock tomorrow.
For those of you watching the live stream from New Orleans last night you may have noticed some, ahem, “technical difficulties” early on in the show. Word on the street it that a power surge literally exploded Scott’s amplifier and set fire to the Hammond B3. The good news, no one was hurt. In addition the B3 was actually rented - not sure about the amplifier.
In true Nocturnal fashion almost a dozen volunteers hoisted the Nocs own B3 from their truck and onto the stage for the sets conclusion with “Nothing But The Water”.
Rock and Roll indeed - way to deal with adversity and keep on rocking. Kudos to the band and technicians for powering through.
The iClips schedule was posted last night and it looks like we’re in luck!
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are scheduled for broadcasting at 7:30PM (CST) tonight direct from New Orleans! Check back here for another live chat.
If you miss the live broadcast you can wait for iCiips to archive or check this out:

While we’re on the topic, Blue and Lasers has a new website, click on the image below to begin your exploration of Blues and Lasers Country.
Since this tour will take us so far from home, we will be bringing our home with us. How, you ask? By joining forces with our favorite cheese company, Cabot, of course! After our memorable night at FarmAid, we got the notion to unite with a company that supports family farms…(they also just happen to make killer good cheese!) Click here for more info on Cabot’s site.
As we’ve been “long distance” fans of GPN for years, we’re so excited to be working with them. Cabot is a cooperative located in Vermont and owned by dairy farmers throughout New England and New York. Grace grew up with dairy farms all around her! We’re always pleased to work with fellow Vermonters, especially ones as talented as Grace. We are excited for her and the success that she and her band have achieved and we are happy to support them on their Fall tour.
A partnership between Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and Cabot Creamery is a perfect fit and just goes to show you, great things come from Vermont!
Lest you think this is a “manufactured” relationship I can tell you this. I’ve been backstage at GPN shows a few times and there is always a rider specified block of Cabot Cheddar cheese available for the band.
Your photographer for these shots is also a pretty good drummer.
So we can’t riff on “Thriller in Manila” possibilities for the title. Still, Mastermind Labs has been hard at work on this. Via Chuck Eller Studios.
We’ve just completed a new Live EP for Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Our 4th project with the band, we handled the post-production chores of a live concert the band did in Skowhegan, Maine. It was an excellent night for the group and has some really great live energy. Look for news about it on the band’s website: www.gracepotter.com
Excellent choice of source material, if you heard this stream live on the Maine Public Broadcasting Network you’ll remember how great the show was.
Blues and Lasers Fundraiser - If They’re Going To San Francisco . . Benny promises to wear some flowers in his hair.
Details below - Summary, Blues and Lasers have booked an excellent opening slot in November. Problem, travel costs to/from San Francisco are a killer for a young band, that’s where you can help. Don’t make me run pictures of Benny and Steve with Sally Struthers - I’ll do it!
Lyrics to “I Want Something That i Want” by Grace Potter and Bethany Joy Galeotti available soon. What did you think of the show? Please feel free to leave a comment. Unfortunately, your blog host doesn’t have television but I’m sure that I totally loved Joy’s outfit.
Did they put in “Ah, Mary” over the credits or something?
Lyrics - “I Want Something That i Want” - (A Hymn To Consumerism)
I’m a girl with the best intentions
Something I should probably mention
I like to get just what i paid for
So I pay and I get and I pay and I want some more more more
And I want something that I want
Something I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see
I’m a girl who’s got a notion
I’m a’gonna show you my magic potion
I could shop til I drop right to the floor
And I get right up and I want some more more more
And I want something that I want
Something I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see
I want something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see
Repeat until the bailout takes hold.

Grace will appear as “Grace” in an ongoing experiment to confuse me. More information here and here and here and here and here.
Plot details below:
Nathan and Haley must parent Jamie in the face of a school bully, while Lucas and Peyton adjust to life as a live-in couple. Brooke finds being a role model not as easy as she expected, and Mouth tries to get his old job back.
Let’s go over it again ok? Nathan, Haley, Jamie, Lucas, Peyton, Brooke, Mouth. These are characters names, see? Apparently we can expect these characters to interact with each other in interesting ways that will drive the “plot” forward.
Chills right? How about the real “Messin’ With The Kid”?
