As far as I can gather from the posts on etree.org Monday nights performance at Mr. Smalls included a wedding proposal and acceptance (whew) on stage.
A local dude named Sean, came up on stage with a bouquet of flowers and had his girlfriend Nicole, join him. He then proposed up on stage with the band and everyone looking on. BTW, she accepted. Grace handed out cups of champagne and they did a slow dance as she played Tonight I’ll Be.

The Nocturnals - Best experienced LIVE - NoHo 10-9-08 from Gary Zona on Vimeo.
Great night in Northampton at Pearl Street. My highlight? A “not on the setlist” two tune set closer that started off with Grace saying “this ones for k. cortez”. The band digs into “Cortez The Killer” which ends in a monstrous guitar solo from Scott but then, without pauses, segues into an electrified opening to “Nothing But The Water”. After the drum jam the band picks up the riffs again, drops the acappella closer to NBTW and goes back into “Cortez”. Classic. Thanks.

A few clips of the last performance at this venue which was, as I recall, off the charts.
Plus, after show concert!

Nice show, quiet and smallish crowd.

Grace laid down an excellent cover of My Morning Jacket’s “Golden” on Sunday at the show in Montreal. You can grab the entire show from etree here - Petit Campus, Montreal, QC - Grace is in a talkative mood. Special Bonus Michael McDonald impersonation at the end!
“Golden” (click to download)
Watchin’ a stretch of road, miles of light explode.
Driftin’ off a thing i’d never done before
Watchin’ a crowd roll in. out go the lights it begins.
A feelin’ in my bones i never felt before…
Mmm… people always told me. that bars are dark and lonely
And talk is often cheap and filled with air.
Sure sometimes they thrill me
But nothin’ could ever chill me.
Like the way they make the time just disappear
Feelin’ you are here again. hot on my skin again.
Feelin good a thing i’d never known before
What does it mean to feel?
Millions of dreams come real
A feelin’ in my soul i’d never felt before… mmm…
And you always told me.
No matter how long it holds me if it falls apart
Or makes us millonaires. you’ll be right here forever.
We’ll go thru this thing together
And on heaven’s golden shore we’ll lay our heads

Highlights for me include:
Sound check includes three songs I have never heard before, two with the band and one Grace solo.
Blues and Lasers opening - they’re really developing a strong sound.
Not often heard “Right Place, Wrong Time” and “Arizona” (Kings of Leon).
Scott ripping the strings off the Gibson SG at the feedback end of “Watching You”.
“Mystery Train” with Benny Yurco on 2nd guitar with a crazed rock and roll ending to finish the show.
Near sellout crowd with more than double the attendance of GPN’s last appearance at this venue.
“Oh, Death” as the segue into “Big White Gate” replacing “Angel Band” (that’s a musical 180 for sure).
Many, many in the crowd singing along with not just “Ah, Mary” but also “NBTW” and “Big White Gate” - they knew all the words.
Jen Crowell’s CD is off the press and ready for sale!
The cowbell is lent to a new front row fan who, incredibly, actually stays on the beat for the entire song.
