grace and scott at wmvy radio

by k. cortez on October 2, 2008

Summer of 2006 - ah, youth. Stellar versions of these tunes, Grace had just written “Big White Gate” a few days before the interview. Plus, listen to Scott’s acoustic slide guitar work as well as backing harmonica here - nice.

I’ll put the entire interview up in a few days.

by k. cortez on October 1, 2008

Grace will be playing at The Tamarack in East Burke, VT on October 4th in her first solo show in? how long? Somebody help me here.

We posted a nice solo song below, here is another from way back that TedHeadOne keeps pointing out as a “must hear”.

grace potter covers “golden”

by k. cortez on September 30, 2008

Grace laid down an excellent cover of My Morning Jacket’s “Golden” on Sunday at the show in Montreal. You can grab the entire show from etree here - Petit Campus, Montreal, QC - Grace is in a talkative mood. Special Bonus Michael McDonald impersonation at the end!

“Golden” (click to download)

Watchin’ a stretch of road, miles of light explode.
Driftin’ off a thing i’d never done before
Watchin’ a crowd roll in. out go the lights it begins.
A feelin’ in my bones i never felt before…
Mmm… people always told me. that bars are dark and lonely
And talk is often cheap and filled with air.
Sure sometimes they thrill me
But nothin’ could ever chill me.
Like the way they make the time just disappear
Feelin’ you are here again. hot on my skin again.
Feelin good a thing i’d never known before
What does it mean to feel?
Millions of dreams come real
A feelin’ in my soul i’d never felt before… mmm…
And you always told me.
No matter how long it holds me if it falls apart
Or makes us millonaires. you’ll be right here forever.
We’ll go thru this thing together
And on heaven’s golden shore we’ll lay our heads

Featuring Bryan playing a mean mandolin riff . . . “we should do acoustic shit more often” - I agree.

to believe in this living is just a hard way to go

by k. cortez on August 12, 2008

Grace sits in with Assembly of Dust on this classic John Prine tune. Recorded way back on 12/30/05. Try to ignore the first minute of shouts of “I Love You Grace” . . and general drunken banter.

“Angel From Montgomery”

Bonnie Raitt and John Prine and Susan Tedeschi (thanks TedHeadOne) after the jump . . .
