Ulster County resident Garth Hudson, who played horns and keyboards in The Band with Levon Helm, has been added to the lineup for an Oct. 3 tribute concert in honor of his late friend and musical colleague.
Folk rocker David Bromberg, singer-songwriter John Prine and Vermont vocalist Grace Potter have also been added to the lineup for “Love for Levon,” an Oct. 3 concert at the Izod Center in northern New Jersey. Hudson’s wife, Maud, will also perform.
“Love for Levon” will also feature Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame, John Mayer, Dierks Bentley, Gregg Allman, Joe Walsh of The Eagles, My Morning Jacket and many others. Tickets are on sale now and cost $46.50 to $221.50. The Izod Center is part of the Meadowlands Sports Complex in E. Rutherford, N.J.
The concert is in honor of Helm, the late Woodstock resident who was a member of The Band and a Grammy-winning solo artist. Helm died April 19. Proceeds from ticket sales will, according to www.levonhelm.com, “help support the lasting legacy of Levon Helm by helping his estate keep ownership of his home, barn and studio, and to continue The Midnight Ramble Sessions.”
