four years

January 26, 2012

I would be remiss if I did not mention the passing of the four year anniversary of This Is Somewhere.

One of the first posts ever had this quote from Scott . . .

I’m sure Grace would never admit it, but it’s scary. There is some pressure to really reach that next level of success. She definitely has a weight on her shoulders, all of us do, but especially her. We have a tight family surrounding the band, our manager, tour manager, our front of the house, sound guys, tech guys–they have been hitting the road hard with us for the past four years now. A lot of these guys have families, and they are taking a financial hit to be part of this. So yeah, it’s not just us, as a band trying to make it there. It’s all of us.

Nice right?

Four years though? Really – holy guacamole where did the time go?

It does seem like just yesterday that this site and your diligent research, caustic wit and dedication to a shared passion came to be a part of my daily read. I know you are not asking for it – but thanks anyway for all you do – it’s been a fun ride and I can’t wait to see what’s up next and where the road will lead.

Counting on spring/summer to be more musical for me – and hoping to experience Billsville live for myself when the weather gets warmer. That passion for live and local sounds so amazing. Kudos to you.

Nah- really? 4 years?? I was wondering where my kids went while I was on the computer. Turns out, one’s married and one’s in college. Stop being so damned interesting!

Thanks KC – Not an overstatement to say thisissomewhere’s take on things has been a huge part of the fun while tracking the events and accomplishments of GPN through the years.

Today someone I have listed on Twitter said: “Starting to fear that I may be getting old … not crazy about a lot of the music the ‘cool kids’ are listening to now.” Right away I thought he should be here – but then I realized he should have been here. Because here is a history, a journey, a body of work – that’s what the last four years were/are to me. Irreplaceable. There’s more, but it’s ineffable. Thank you so much, kc.

Btw, that is a nice bit of insight into the backdrop of what is seen on stage. There’s a lot of work that goes into what simply looks like fun.

4 years – really? .. amazing how time flies when you’re having fun.
You were the catalyst (you have to see them live) that got me to my 1st GPN show in Feb. 2008, Mr. Cortez .. and a very big part of why I care about the “kids” in the band far beyond the interest I have in any other artists I admire – you made it personal.
Cheers to another year of fun and information par excellence..*clink*
