I really hate to say it, but I’m gonna say it anyway

June 11, 2010

Grace called “Goodbye Kiss” a “happy break-up song” and I’m happy to stretch that metaphor a bit further than it was intended.

This will be the last update to “This Is Somewhere” for the foreseeable future. I’ve spent the last two and a half years updating this blog almost every day and now I need to step away from it and get back to the offline world for awhile.

In the meantime I encourage you to participate over at the Grace Potter and the Nocturnals Forums to help build the rapidly growing fan community. By all accounts the new record looks to be the big push that the band we’ve all loved for years needs to get them in front of the bigger audience they richly deserve. I’m happy to have played whatever small role I did in that success.

I was privileged to be at the first live show that Grace, Scott, Matt, Benny and Cat played together as a new band. I remember speaking to Justin afterwards who asked me how everyone sounded together – I told him how amazed I was at how smooth the whole sound was – like something just clicked in place. Turns out it did.

I’ll see you on the road.

It’s been a pleasure working with you, and thanks for always posting my work. Whether it was photos, reviews or interviews, I always tried to get them to you as fast as possible. This will always be the official GPN site for me! Your time and hard work has allowed us to watch this band grow, and now it’s time to let them go off and bask in their well deserved success! We did bump elbows at DMB in Saratoga, so maybe we’ll meet again on the road. Thanks for everything!

Sincere thanks for all the work. Always amazed at the frequency and diligence of the site updates. Watching you chronicle this band’s amazing launch has been pretty much like tuning into a Sat matinee cliffhanger series – “what happened yesterday and what’s going on tomorrow…?” TIS provided us all with a closeness and immediacy that’s going to be sorely missed. Kudos and good luck with what’s next.
