Amazon, iTunes, Best Buy or, preferably, your own local record store if you’ve still got one. Less that 10 bucks – you really don’t have any excuses.

It’s already generating a stack of positive reviews.

Darn it, I can’t buy the Fillmore, because my stupid iTunes doesn’t have in the library!
I went to my record store today to buy the new CD but for some reason they have a different release date (June 14th) so I have to wait a few extra days

2 Wally June 8, 2010 at 8:47 am

Hope my two are in my mailbox when I get home. I’ll probably buy more….

Anyway, for those of us who have not joined the Itunes, IPOD, I-something crowd, will the Live at the Fillmore be available in some other form someday???

3 stot June 8, 2010 at 9:28 am

I’d rather have a dvd of the fillmore myself. I’m tempted to pull the trigger on the itunes copy though. Also, all you have to do is download the itunes software and then you can buy and play.

4 stot June 8, 2010 at 9:46 am

COME ON MR. POSTMAAAN….

5 Saygracenow June 8, 2010 at 10:46 am

I’m on my 4th go around. Low Road and Fooling Myself are making a strong push to the top of my “love list.” Colors and medicine still leading the pack.

6 Wally June 8, 2010 at 10:50 am

No offense to the California peeps, but I think it was a classy move by the NOC’s to have the party in Burlington for free!!

Wish I could go….congrats on the release and I hope whoever goes has a great time and posts many pics!!

7 Tipi June 8, 2010 at 10:53 am

Wish they be more clear … GPN.com has a post dated 6/8 that says tomorrow … Benny said today … I’m so confused!?!

8 Trish June 8, 2010 at 10:54 am

I couldn’t agree more, Wally! If I had not already taken time off work to go to Mt. Jam and Riverbend later this week, I’d be on the road to Burlington right now! So happy for everyone who will be there to share in the celebrating!

9 k. cortez June 8, 2010 at 10:59 am

The dude that updates the GPN site must work very late at night. Anyway, they changed it. It’s today – the 8th

10 Karen June 8, 2010 at 11:24 am

Just bought album on iTunes. Listening to “Colors” first. Maybe I’m misunderstanding you, Wally, but do you realize that once you buy from iTunes you can burn a CD of it (Filmore) and play it anywhere? Agree with you on classy decision by NOCs regarding CA vs VT – not only classy, but very loving toward family, friends, and die-hard fans. I’m happy for all of you who are benefitting from their decision.

11 Stephen June 8, 2010 at 12:06 pm

Well I would buy the concert…if I could…seriously US only? How hard is it to get UK licences?

12 Wally June 8, 2010 at 12:16 pm

I think I heard a UK release date on sometime in July or Aug……hold tight, they’re a coming!!!!

13 Stephen June 8, 2010 at 12:31 pm

if that’s true, Wally, I’ll be doing the happy dance. I wanted the album, but have wanted a proper good quality live album for quite some time (Live Oh Five and Skeogwen just teased!) and for it to be there and just out of reach…

14 joester June 8, 2010 at 6:02 pm

ok – I’m in the same I-challenged boat as Wally is.
are you saying if I were to succumb to I-tunes and figure out what and how, I can then burn that to DVD?
I don’t necessarily need the audio right now(have 3 new cd’s coming), I want the VIDEO of Fillmore.
so once more, can I burn the DVD from I-tunes once I have bought it?
and is there an I-tunes for dummies out there………

15 Trish June 8, 2010 at 6:03 pm

I ended up getting the iTunes version first because I couldn’t wait until I got out of work and it has the bonus track. Also bought the live album on iTunes. On my way home I stopped at Best Buy and got another one with the DVD! There is no such thing as too much GPN!

16 JT/NY June 8, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Got my Cd today, Great Music. Good selection of songs. Really enjoyed, That Phone & One Short Night. Watched the DVD, Can see Nancy singing along to apologies. :) Mic stands a ways back but there. No JT. Finally, Been waiting for this day for toooo long!!!!!

17 Bill June 8, 2010 at 7:39 pm

Getting shitfaced on wine and listening to the cd over and over. Still like Oasis (what a chorus) and Things I never Needed. I think Money and That Phone are my least favorite but I love them all. Going to go buy the Fillmore show right now.

I love the way the CD looks vinyl. That was a sweet touch.

18 Bill June 8, 2010 at 7:52 pm

By the way, I don’t think the Fillmore show is the concert video, I’m downloading it now and it appears to be audio only. Whoops.

19 PQ June 8, 2010 at 8:42 pm

Bought it all last nite. The new CD, the Fillmore CD, and the Fillmore DVD. All from itunes.. stayed up late watching myself rock out at the Fillmore. Love it all.

20 Eric Leighton June 8, 2010 at 9:08 pm

Two CD’s in mail today! Got iTunes Fillmore audio and video!
Watched the Fillmore Concert this morning. Reassured me that it really was one of the most inspiring shows I have seen.

Side note: I agree GPN should have been home for the CD release. I am not happy that two days before a show scheduled for many weeks was cancelled when I had made plans and recruited people to go with me. It never should have been scheduled! I am not the only one who was led and then let go.

21 eric June 8, 2010 at 9:29 pm

there is both an audio cd and video dvd of the fillmore concert on i-tunes. they are $9.99 each. it is actually pretty confusing to be honest. im not even sure what i cliked on to get to the dvd. i am DLing the vid now ill post a link to the right page if i can when its done. i recently got a new mac it def has a mind of its own, im pretty in the dark as its my first one and i havnt made it to a self help class at the mall just yet. it has “i” everything

22 k. cortez June 8, 2010 at 9:40 pm

Eric is correct. I was surprised to see an Audio CD (at exactly the same price) as the video.

Video: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewMovie?id=371159102&s=143441

Audio: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/grace-potter-the-nocturnals/id374815284

23 eric June 8, 2010 at 9:47 pm

thx kc the vid takes FOREVER 2 DL and it doesnt appear i can get that page in another window while its DLing 2 copy the addy in the browser. can likely be done but itunes is weird and i didnt want 2 screw up the DL. its taking long enuff as it is. im going to go bak and get a bunch more of the studio stuff from itunes tomorrow.

it has taken almost an hour and a half to DL about 25% of the DVD. and I have the cable modem and a new imac…so it could take a lot longer on other systems just FYI 2 everyone. well worth the wait i am certain. i also pre-ordered from Best Buy & looking forward to that DVD as well. one short night was quite the teasr

24 k. cortez June 8, 2010 at 9:49 pm

The video is huge – an hour seems reasonable but you’re approaching too long. Not to worry, you can quit/restart etc – iTunes will remember.

Those links will simply fire up iTunes to the right place.

25 Tedheadone June 8, 2010 at 10:51 pm

The link to the “buy the Fillmore concert video” actually took me to the audio, and i ordered it by mistake by clicking buy the album. Not like I don’t want it, tho, sounds great. :-)

26 eric June 8, 2010 at 11:05 pm

theres 13 minutes left of my DL. it took a little less than 3 hrs. the first half of the DL took almost 2hrs. maybe cause i was also playing the 9:30 Club audio show file simultaneously for the first part of the DL (via itunes)? after that itunes was DLing the vid faster.

27 eric June 8, 2010 at 11:20 pm

the vid is sweet i hope they r getting bunch from 2010 as well! pretty pumped 4 the webster hall show over here right about now

28 Keith June 8, 2010 at 11:54 pm

Does anybody know of a way to download the Fillmore video and then convert it to audio? I simply can’t afford both and could do that with a physical DVD, I’m just unsure how to do it with iTunes video files.

29 michael June 9, 2010 at 7:13 am

Isn’t there any other place to but the video besides itunes?

30 Bill June 9, 2010 at 7:29 am

Yeah, I obviously downloaded the fillmore audio cd by mistake but after listening to it, it was no mistake at all. What a show, great sound.

31 stot June 9, 2010 at 7:53 am

It took about 1.5 hours for the dvd to dl. I turned everything else off while it was coming.

32 HeathO96001 June 9, 2010 at 9:38 am

My CD w/bonus DVD shipped from Bestbuy.com yesterday, so I’m hoping to get in the mail today :)

33 toofarnorth June 9, 2010 at 10:08 am

Happy for you Heath .. my Best Buy email was to say mine is on backorder. =(
Just an extra for the DVD anyway . . prefer Bull Moose and other indie record stores whenever possible even if they don’t get to offer the extra perks.

Michael – my thought exactly re: the video. I’ve deliberately avoided all things “i” for a long time and have passed on other special deals . . the Fillmore DVD is very tempting though.

34 Karen June 9, 2010 at 10:26 am

My BB cd/dvd is on back order as well. But the chocolate was waiting for me when I got home last night. Yummy, and I took a moment to reflect on the fact that it was in Vermont just the day before – made me feel closer, you know.

35 Lauren June 9, 2010 at 10:39 am

Loving it, loving it, loving it. And to the many who have suggested it sounds even better in the car on a sunny day- hell yeah it does! Wicked digging the vinyl look, with the grooves and even the data side black- nice, guys. And DAMN if Grace’s vocals don’t sound better on this recording than any other, ever. She has no equal at this point. How much was I wishing that the stars could have aligned this weekend at Mountain Jam and Susan Tedeschi could have shared the stage with our band and our girl? I’d probably still be recovering today.

One more time– loving it.

36 David K. Golden June 9, 2010 at 12:32 pm

Having heard the CD I must confess to a level of dissappointment. The songs are fine, and the playing seems solid, but the SOUND of the disc leaves something to be desired. Except for Grace’s vocals, the sound seems muffled. I don’t know if the best description is (a) it sounds like all the instruments are being filtered, or (b) it sounds like a wet blanket was thrown over the amplifiers or (c) it sounds like my ears were stuffed up. There is a brightness to the sound on both “Nothing But the Water” and “This is Somewhere” that is just not to be found on this disc.

Last year, Bob Dylan caused a minor internet stir when asked what modern music he liked to listen to. He responded that he didn’t listen to alot of new stuff because he didn’t like the way it sounded. Some thought he was being an old fogey who didn’t appreciate the new forms and styles of music, but in fact, he was being an old fogey who didn’t appreciate digital sound compression as opposed to the analog sound to be found on vinyl. Luddite that I am, I don’t know if my issues with “Grace Potter and the Nocturnals” are due to sound compression, or Mark Baston’s recording style, or what. I just know that the sound was not up to the quality of the material.

Compare and contrast to the bonus DVD from 7/14/09. Played on my TV, which has far poorer sound than my stereo, the music was much brighter and the sound much fuller. While I confess that I am a live music snob, I would generally rather listen to a poor live recording than any studio recording (a throwback to making audience tapes of the Dead in the Seventies), the difference in quality was certainly notable.

On the positive side, I fundamentally liked all of the songs (many of which I had previously heard) and look forward to seeing them grow in concert. I’m really psyched for Webster Hall on the 12th.

37 Ike June 9, 2010 at 1:29 pm

Just arrived. (I missed the delivery yesterday). Awesome look to the CD and everything!

38 eric June 9, 2010 at 9:36 pm

David I don’t agree i think the album was mastered perfectly. the “sound” u refer to was made for radio, which was consciously a very different effort than the other 2 albums you referenced. i do absolutely hear ya (and Dylan) on todays compressed files and all though, with live stuff u have to know what u r DLing. i DLed the album on i tunes and pre ordered one from Best By so ill see how different they sound, if at all. in general todays live & studio mp3 files are much larger in size and much better sounding than those of a couple years ago.

2farnorth and everyone else that hasnt caved in to itunes or technology in general i am absolutely in your corner. no question the whole scene has turned into such overkill i cant even keep up w all the free GPN vids, clips, photos and such just on FB alone…i finally switched to mac after a decade of frustrations with windows and it is by far much more user friendly. if u r on this blog page right now there is nothing u can not accomplish with ease with a mac. especially if you are into live music and audio files u got 2 consider a mac and say goodbye to DLing programs to decompress and unzip shit that dont work half the time and will be obsolete in 6 months anyway. i tunes does it all instantly/automatically, no bullshit whatsoever. and i can load a ton of mp3s onto my blackberry. in addition to the streaming pandora blakberry app. (nope no iphone aint goin there) and stream it all in my car over the car speakers. so while computers in general suck im not so broken up about the whole thing after all since most of my cds skip, if they are even in one piece. plus macs dont get viruses, they r designed 2 attack windows programs. just sayin.

39 toofarnorth June 10, 2010 at 7:42 am

eric . . lol – I’m imagining KC’s grin when he read your mac love note.
I have no problem with technology – I just don’t like iTunes. My reasons make sense to me and others but I don’t argue the issues. PCs still leads mac for business and this thing I’m on is supposed to be working more than it’s playing. (if I were me I’d fire myself !)
Now returning to regularly scheduled programming . . . :D

Heading south today so will be picking up the two CDs the Bull Moose store in Bangor is holding for me. Wonder how many plays will fit into the 2 1/2 hr drive back . . hmm, is it bad manners to listen to someone else right after going to another artist’s concert ?

40 Karen June 10, 2010 at 9:58 am

I enjoyed your comment, Eric. Was thinking about D.G.’s comment on the way home yesterday and the way in this morning, wondering if there would be a counterpoint. Yours is well put. Somewhere buried in the archives here there is an interview where Grace said that on the next record (current one) the band wouldn’t try to so hard to capture their live sound, and [wouldn’t fight the recording site?]. My paraphrasing is very rough, and I’m not good at searching archives, so hope it gets the proper sentiment across.

Also, I have already decided to go Mac if and when I decide to have computer at home. Anything that bolsters that decision is welcome. We are PC-oriented here, too, except for a small minority of mavericks.

41 Tipi June 10, 2010 at 2:52 pm

If windows had listened to me (Windows 7 is all my idea) … And moved the caps lock button I might not be here … But once you go Mac!

42 Dollar June 10, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Well,Best Buy FINALLY delivered my CD/DVD and am listening to it as I write. I’m still trying to decide whether I like the album Paris or the old Paris (yes I know there are many variations to the old Paris!).The album sounds great & Grace’s voice is up front without overpowering the instrumentals. Do we really have to share GPN w/the rest of the world now? …lol

43 eric June 10, 2010 at 3:05 pm

the thing we macs and i tunes and all is when u r ready to giv in to the fact that even though u wish we didnt use computers-we r stuck w them-and u r ready 2 stop fighting it and just give in-u will be much happier with a mac. i fought it for 10 yrs w windows and finally just gave up. as far as pc’s being better 4 biz…macs do all that now. u can even run windows and windows programs on a mac but i chose not to,as im done with the bill gates games. gave him enough cash. u just have to be willing to 4get everything u *think* u know of computers and start over like a new language. u gotta pik your battles in this world. things arent perfect but “after all were only human i mean ROBOTS”

and thank u karen. people need to understand where the band is at and what their goals are at this point. grace could put out a hundred albums of the same exact set list and make them all sound very different-but she went with this. grace didnt need this album she wanted it. the rest of the world NEEDED it. her roots and abilities on stage, live recordings, and other albums past and future aint going anywhere. y choose when u can have your cake and eat it too??? once again great job on the record GPN. i dont think they sacrificed anything.

44 Dollar June 10, 2010 at 4:09 pm

Just bought the chocolate & realized after I had hit buy that the shipping for 5 bars cost as much as the bars themselves! Wow! It better be tasty chocolate! lol

45 Karen June 10, 2010 at 4:36 pm

Dollar: You get a reusable long-lasting Polar Ice Pack in the box, too. And the chocolate is tasty. Cool package as well – “Let chocolate rock your world.”

46 Bill June 10, 2010 at 6:13 pm

I still prefer the version of Paris that I got as a bonus track when I downloaded This is Somewhere from iTunes way back when.

The Crow is greater than The Judge.

I think I remember a version that had the line “If I was Peanut Butter I’d be smooth.”

47 Wally June 11, 2010 at 6:53 am

Finally got one of mine from Amazon, still waiting for BB…….CD is crisp and clean (audio) and the best product to date these guys have put out. Even some of the songs I thought I didnt like…I’m liking!!! This one is defintely a winner! I’m gonna order another……

Question: Who’s singing backing vocals??? Only one besides Grace noted in the liner notes as singing vocals is Scott on Medicine…….So who else was singing???

Anyone else notice the producer contributed with piano on one cut and “hand claps” on another????

48 HeathO96001 June 11, 2010 at 6:21 pm

I got the CD in the mail today and it’s awesome! The bonus DVD is pretty cool too :)

49 toofarnorth June 11, 2010 at 9:37 pm

Picked up the CDs the Bull Moose store in Bangor was holding for me last night. Listened to the album for most of the 2 1/2 hours drive home .. the sound cocoon of a car is my favorite way to get acquainted with a new album. Luckily my car has good speakers. That Phone remains the only candidate for “likely to be skipped” but it’s surprising me a little that what I thought were favorites and “also nice” are already shifting around.
General over all comment . . Love This Record !

50 Tedheadone June 14, 2010 at 8:45 am

Grace sang backing vocals.
