I think I like it, perhaps another dozen or so listens will solidify that opinion. :)

Hmmm – can we link facebook comments with TIS comments? anywho – posted over there the following:

Just listened – I’ve heard many versions of this one by now and never tire of it, it seems. Gotta admit this does balance that LIVE performance sound as well the added studio magic. Guess that means it gets thumbs up from me! Even so, for the record, I do miss the ka-KAW

Seems there may be a FB group brewing too according to Mr Easton. . . .

Not sure how I feel about the background oooo’s between Lyrics in the beginning. And yes, we’ll always miss Grace hitting that ka-kaw, but I think this is great. I was worried how this would be able to compare to the live shows, but as always, nicely done guys. The guitars sound incredible.

i liked it. i still like “crow/caw” better than “judge/law” i wonder why the change? oh yeah, and i am not feeling the weird background vocals.

i like what they did with “paris” obviously this song needed zero production when they brought it into the studio. but they weren’t just going to record a live version of the song for the new album. i need to listen to the whole studio album in its entirety several times over before i can really get a feel for any of the songs individually. a studio album is a whole different monster and the one song is more like a piece of a bigger puzzle with a theme to it. i like the new edge this version of “paris” has and when we hear it on the radio u will be surprised how fast u fall for those “ooh-ooh”s they actually are placed perfectly. i am impressed with the way the band is willing to shake it up and take chances i think they really pulled it off, as they did with tiny light on the ellen show. studio/live its apples and oranges no doubt. but i like 2 have my cake and eat it too and the more i hear this band the more i hear confidence in their playing. 2 say paris is their best song live would be a pretty bold statement but it just might be the case (not counting the endorphin overloading ballads ;-) . the shows r strong straight thru, the energy and all is there the whole time, but that paris groove is just super nasty.

also the acoustic version of paris that aired on 101.9 rxp in nyc on 4-27-10 is nasty!

Great stuff! This might become my favorite version of Paris :)

eric . . not even going to try to add anything to your analysis – just say Yup !!

Oooohhhh, this sounds optimal. Something has always been not…quite…right for me with studio AND live, even though I love the song. I like a little distortion on the voice, and the “Hey! Ho!” making the cut. This album might be called Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that Scott is the featured player here. Another scorching guitar track. Mmmm.

I’m not really so used to the recorded sound and was worried about it for a while… just because I’m so hooked on the live sound and listen to mostly the archive shows rather than the studio CDs. But, I have to say, sounds great to me! I’m game to hear the rest of it! Glad that “if I was a man, I’d make my move” is still in there because it was gone for a while and it’s one of my favorite lines… I dig that the chanting remains too… hehe… climb the curtains…

…ohhh reeeee dohhh!! (I don’t remember the first part, usually just mumble through it…)

I decided to reserve judgment for about 24 hours and give myself time adjust to it. It’s now official: I like it. I’m also cautiously starting to like that this album is going to take me out of my original comfort zone with this band and hit a lot of different genres (even within the same song). To my ear, this version of Paris almost has an electronic dance club feel to it at times and Tiny Light starts out somewhat pop-ish. But both ultimately boil into ass-kicking rock and roll songs (love Scott’s guitar solos, as Lauren also pointed out) and deliver the kind of intensity we love about the live shows. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

I like it! It’s different but has all the essentials (minus the ka-kaw) that make the live version great. This is one of those songs were they can really improvise and can have a completely different vibe every night. Trish you’re dead on how a lot of these songs have a little bit more pop sound, but when you boil it down it has rock and roll at it’s roots. I cannot wait to hear how all these songs turn out on the CD, but most especially after a few weeks on the road. I just want to see a date somewhere within 150 miles of me.
