Nice candid pics of the band from the video shoot on rollingstone.com Plus, most of the reader feedback for the article is GPN based…..all positive!! A number of responses basically tell RS that GPN has been around, they just never noticed, they been wasting their ink on Lady Gagas etc…..kinda comical!!

joester- you took the words right out of my mouth. I do like that “similar to Tina/Janis with the Sticky Fingers era Stones” description I’ve seen. It’s how I describe GPN to my friends. They would fit right in with the classic 70′s rock acts.

about the jam band thingy –
GPN has played on JamCruise, toured with Gov’t Mule, played a number of festivals alongside lots of other jam bands, sat in and played in the middle of Moe’s set –
so they get along well with the jam band culture and crowds;
but no, they’re not a jam band.
not really.
sort of similar to jam bands during some of their jams, but not a jam band.
they also toured with Brett Dennon – but they are a FAR away from being pop music.
how about we avoid labels, and just call them a damn fine band!

Bill, The jamband label has done well for GPN and is a major reason they are being recognized to date. No they are not now or ever been a Jam band. But they have been hard working road warriors like most Jam bands. BTW remember when Twang magazine called TIS a country CD?
