grace potter and the nocturnals to play massmoca

by k. cortez on November 24, 2009

After two years of personally bugging everyone involved in booking (sorry folks) it’s nice to know that persistence pays off. GPN will be playing MASSMoCA in North Adams, MA on March 11th of 2010. This is the first announced gig a string of New England based shows and, for those of you who need a little travel in your life, this is a great destination event. Check out the website to get a sense of how great this place is and then mark your calendars for the trip.

New York Times review of the Sol Lewitt show which will be hanging during the concert. I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that the Hunter Theater (where the band will play) serves as a stage for the elaborate sets of one of my favorite photographers, Greg Crewdson.

Very cool location for a show – just took me a slideshow tour of MassMOCA – I think the sisters will be there- that’s just about when I wake up from my winter’s hibernation on the hill and can get back out live my life again and see me some shows!

Yup, cool venue. I don’t mean to be urbancentric, and I am not saying North Adams is in the middle of nowhere….the Nocs will make it Somewhere…but a Thursday night? Doesn’t a location like this beg for a Saturday, or at least a Friday night? I’ll give ‘em the benefit of the doubt and go with…. they plugged it in front of another date that was going to open “a string on NE shows”

North Adams is in the middle of nowhere. I live next to it so I should know.

MassMoCA is a wonderful museum and think it will be a fabulous venue for GPN. Kired and I were blown away by the Sol LeWitt installation last summer, btw.
Calendar is already marked . . but will definitely keep fingers crossed for another show or two that fits neatly into the road trip from the edge of the world.

Thanks for your efforts to make this one happen KC . . now how about applying your “bugging skills” to getting the band booked into a new venue in Salisbury, MA :D

This is awesome – Scott has history down there! I recall when the factories closed and the MassMoCA concept evolved. This means that our Williamstown friends can go to this show!
