Maybe this is naive but . . considering Dave Matthews is a pretty big fish in the music world pond . .
if Mark Batson was allowed to take that much control of the DMB album — Why ?
and if DM et al weren’t happy with the results why did they agree to release it ?
Was it only after fans complained that Batson’s influence became an issue ?

Well being a huge DMB fan I know how Mark Batson worked with them. As Dave said the record should have been entitled DMB feat. Mark Batson. Maybe that’s what this will be for GPN, but maybe it’s what they need. T-Bone could have been a bad thing…we’ll see.

I just realized I have a pretty wide selfish streak . . . .

Agree with Steph on the timing . . her reason plus this.
Someone who tracks new releases said it is going to be a very crowded field this holiday season making it extra tough for those who don’t have mega-bucks to spend on promotion.

Completely uniformed, subjective opinion: I never liked the fact that T Bone required recording w/his peeps. Also, that weird interview comment about how he was napping during a recording session always bothered me. I’m crazy like that. I expect people to be awake while they’re working. I also expect them to come up with better creative feedback than “do it again, but more like the Pink Panther.” WTF?

Onward and upward! Timing’s cool too, release on the cusp of festie season, et al. Rock on!
