glide magazine names nothing but the water one of the top records of the decade

by k. cortez on September 11, 2009

In the recurring feature “At The Barbeque” the editors of Glide Magazine ruminate on their own personal “Best of” lists. Given that the decade is coming to a close (!?!) the inevitable “Best Record of the Decade” lists are bound to start appearing. Glide is first out of the gate and, whatdayaknow, “Nothing But The Water” made the list. You can read the other selections here.

nothing but the water cover

Carla Danca writes . . .

GPN changed a lot of my attitudes about music this decade. Blending jam and indie – different styles that at times have seemed at odds with each other – as well as reminding me that just ’cause you have a pretty face it doesn’t mean you can’t play. The ’90s and 2000s saw lots of female pop artists but Grace Potter brought back the female rock artist.

Adding another Sweet !

(re: GPN) ” So I tried to think of my favorite multi-purpose album … “

” Wilco transcends so many genres you lose track after the first three songs. “

Hadn’t thought about this before . . . most days what I listen to reflects my mood and they both always make it into a mix . . not just because they are my favorite bands . . because they have songs that fit.

I concur! Finally, the status that she and the nocs deserve! Grace is the female rock artist of the decade in my book!

oh, finally – the recognition Grace deserves – I have long been stating to anyone who might listen, that Grace is a bona fide talent – her keyboard skills alone are awesome – then you add 2 parts sugar and 90 parts looks and 90 parts voice and the guitar, etc. – you have a MUSICIAN that is great to listen to and look at…and, of course I am partial to the NOCS!!!!

I have always been impressed with your total support of the whole band and not just that one certain individual who’s a part of the whole which together makes this band so incredible. That’s special!

This is very awesome for the band. Congratulations to each of you! Without a doubt it is well deserved!
