Really, JS ?
I only got involved in Feb of 2008 so maybe last year is clearer for me . . but thought I remembered GPN opened for Dave Matthews on her 25th birthday (sort of a neat present yes ?) so searched KC's archives.

nice article -altho I have to strongly disagree about the "Godchaux’s heiress as the lone, legitimate female sex symbol on the jam band circuit " portion.
After going to decades of dead shows (been there, done that, got the hundreds of t-shirts) - Donna can't, and never could - hold a candle to Grace's voice, or presence. Donna was never a "sex symbol" ala Grace Slick or others. horrible comparison - I know they were trying to tie the music and history together - but just SO incorrect - I had to comment.
Donna is a sweetheart of a person, she still sings well, and the singing w/Bobby is cool and nostalgic - but she can't sing and play like Grace Potter does.
just my 2 pesos.

Cat was pretty funny NolaMar - you commented on her hair- it did look good for a hard working bass player on a hot stage - at one point she grabbed the mike and put her arm up in the air and announced to everyone - I Smell! Everyone and everthing did smell - but the sights and sounds were awesome!

Blues and Lasers smoked the Green Tent pretty good early in the day - I had an absolute blast all day long and was glad to have been there!!
