Lurking somewhere inside Hollywood Records is a more rocked out mix of “I Want Something That I Want” – apparently minus Bethany Joy. You’ll remember this song from the well commented posts about the appearance. The tie in between SoapNet is a little lost on me but what the hell right? Final call, more folks who know all the words at shows.
Update:
“I Want Something That I Want” was written by Grace for Confessions of a Shopaholic but it didn’t make the final cut for the movie. OTH loved it so much they recorded a version with Bethany for the episode that Grace appeared in and scored. The original Grace only version will actually be released on iTunes in the next month or so – no exact date yet.
And to address Van’s comments, this was written and recorded summer of 2008, it was not originally recorded and then left off of TIS. The original version you hear in the soap.net promo features Joe Russo (Benevento/Russo Duo) on drums and Andy Hess (Gov’t Mule) on bass, this is not a Grace Potter and the Nocturnals track.

Follow the tracks – Confessions was released by Touchstone Pictures. The songs theme makes a lot more sense now doesn’t it?

ummmm….WOW.
I’m not… I don’t…hmm…okay.
So . . . just a promo for a stable of soaps plus a new one ?
or is IWSTIW going to be the theme song for the new show ?
That show’s name set off a gag reflex but seriously doubt I’m their target audience . Either way it’s getting Grace’s name/music out there and making some pretty easy $ . . not a bad thing these days imho.
Soapnet appears to be a destination site for Soap Opera fans. Given the “go.com” domain redirect its also a Disney property. Given the Disney property you get Hollywood Records and then you get Grace.
The Disney-ABC Television Group is home to all of Disney’s worldwide entertainment and news television properties. The Disney-ABC Television Group also manages the Radio Disney Network, general interest and non-fiction book imprint Hyperion, as well the Company’s equity interest in Lifetime Entertainment Services and A&E Television Networks.
I’m getting something I want tomorrow! You comin’ up?
Okay. I am gonna make a guess here and it’s nothing more then a guess!
We all thought this song was written by Grace for One Tree Hill to be sung by her and Bethany whatsherface.
However; perhaps the drum head with the band/owl logo is the key. After TIS came out, the bass drum went to the album visual. And later this last year it went plain, the owl logo has not re-appeared.
Could it be…is it possible that this was a song that was born at the same time as “Mastermind” and “Mr Columbus” but did not make it onto the album? AHA!! Inquiring minds want to know…
P.S. The butler did it in the library with a candlestick.
According to Tim Curry it was Ms. Scarlet
Nope
Bottom line Van. They made one incredibly right choice with Mr. Columbus.
Thanks K.C. and yes, it makes a lot more sense – especially having read the book. Had forgotten the movie was coming out this month . . can not imagine a more perfect song . . really sorry it was cut.
“The original version you hear in the soap.net promo features Joe Russo (Benevento/Russo Duo) on drums and Andy Hess (Gov’t Mule) on bass, this is not a Grace Potter and the Nocturnals track.”
AHA! I was thrown off the track by capricious and arbitrary footage, in the promo, of the NOCs doing another song. Geez, you gotta fight fair!!
And I meant to say the butler did it in the library with the maid….was her name Ms. Scarlet?
I blame the communists. Or was communism a red herring?
I saw “Confessions ….” last Friday. There was a large audience, and everyone laughed all the way through the movie — not belly-aching laughs, but feel good, this is lots of fun laughs. And the stars were both awfully cute. Grace’s song would have been such a good fit — too bad they didn’t use it.
Digression: Then I saw “Seven Pounds” Saturday at a discount theater. That was the most packed audience I’ve been in for a long time. The three of us had to squeeze into the middle of a row, and of course I got to sit next to the extremely tall man who obviously had a bad cold, and whose leg kept drifting over into my space. He totally redeemed himself by crying just a little bit at the end of the movie.
Thanks for the “real person review” of Confessions, Karen . . if I like a book I’m always reluctant to see the movie , but am curious now.
toofar: And now I’ll have to read the book to see if I steered you wrong — am sure you’d be too polite to say so.
Continuing digression and absolutely highjacking now – no hard feelings if you stop me, kc. Here is a good song from “Seven Pounds” soundtrack that is running through my head today:
