jen crowell cd release party on saturday

December 5, 2008

Fans of GPN in the Burlington area won’t want to miss this great show by longtime friend and collaborator Jen Crowell. If you haven’t seen Jen perform please read this excellent review from Earvolution to get an idea of the tasty musical treat you’re in for. The addition of The Leaves is a double treat not to be missed.

Reminiscent of Natalie Merchant, Crowell’s sultry voice provides a welcoming invitation into her world. On songs like “Hey Dixon” and “Marvelous,” her vocals glide smoothly over the rolling Gillian Welch/David Rawlings guitars producing a powerful vibe that transcends its coffee house roots. “But Instead” is a finely crafted bit of folk-pop and on “Seven Days,” Crowell slips into heavenly chanteuse mode.

Ummm . . “leav-ing” that alone . . . .

Jen has a beautiful voice, hope she does very well with this CD.
Love that Aya is working with her on this – should be a great party indeed !

Mike, um buddy, um…nevermind.

Jenn is fantastic. I could listen to her all day long. Wait, I have. If you haven’t bought this yet, what is your malfunction? Go, now, I’ll wait.

Just wanted to let you know that the link to Jen’s site is bad. You left the second “l” off of “jencrowell”.

I went to the show last and had a great time. Dina had her art up and doing a silent auction. I’m now the proud owner of a Leave “Timid Line” like painting. Aya and Matt Opened with their new new style…both playing in different keys and would switch mid song. Hee Hee. A couple songs in TH1 pops in great to see you.

We had to encourage Jen cause she was having such a great mingling but it was well worth the wait with her playing a mixture of material off the CD and covers.

Next CD release will be The Leaves LP in March or so.
