For the third consecutive year, Grace Potter brought her dynamic voice, sex appeal and The Nocturnals to All Good. After a much talked about set on the Magic Hat Stage in 2006 and their follow-up performances on the main stage in 2007, we awaited this moment with great anticipation. Precisely honed, blues infused rock joined with Potter’s powerful voice and delivery made it plain to see why these cats have risen up the ranks so quickly.

I was looking for the words…those were right on. I am so glad that they made it to All Good. From what I gathered it was not easy for them getting there, (rope-a-dope?), but we were so glad they made it for their spot on the main stage. We had our tickets before they were announced to play the festival, but held on to faith that GPN would join on again this year. The only problem with that performance was that it ended too soon. Although, I was hopeing to hear Sugar and Oh-La-La, and I got both. Now, when are we going to hear some audio?

An unnamed source reports . . .

I wondered why she said that that way. Well, they didn’t mess up the sound for us armchair travelers, anyhow. Nice to have the inside scoop on it, though.

And that is why she’s a Rock Goddess. Guitars are funny things, sometimes you just want to play the ones that aren’t yours, or in my case, affordable.

It happens… Never been to All Good, so I don’t know how close in proximity the stages are to one another. I recall a reviewer from the Newport Folk Festival in ‘06 being cranking w/GPN for the same thing…playing too loud closeby a more subdued artist.

“cranky” not “cranking” GPN was “cranking,” and apparently, that was the problem.

That is just what happened. Although I think that they got the hint on the side stage because their sound was only brief, quite interruptive, yet still brief. The way All Good goes is that as soon as the main stage band finishes, the side stage band starts to play. The stages are right next to each other, and there is no time in between the shows.

But Guava, when do you go pee in a situation like that? Beer + no intermission = never ever ever break the seal.

That was a tough call. It was good to have the non-stop music, however it was also a bit too much, especially in the sun all day. We just had to say enough after a couple of hours, head back to the campsite, drink more beer, pee, then hit the shows again. Luckly, our site was close enough that the walk was not too bad. All in all it was a great weekend, exhausting, but great!
