lebanon new hampshire with grace potter and the nocturnals

by k. cortez on June 8, 2008

I arrived home at about 2:15 AM from a stellar day in Lebanon, NH. The band was more than gracious with their time with the fans spending more than an hour at a Potterville Posse arranged meetup and Q&A session where Grace, Scott Bryan and Matt answered questions ranging from guitar choices, to favorite venues to play to online vs. local shopping to what defines “success” for a hard working touring band in today’s music industry climate.

The band hit the stage after an announcement from Child and Family Services of New Hampshire that the two shows in Manchester and Lebanon along with the charitable donations had raised $71,000 for local children in need - amazing.

Once again, the band performed a stellar set to a sold out crowd of over 800 people in the sweaty but fun Lebanon Opera House. Highlights included a ringing version of “Over Again” that brought the entire crowd to thier feet in a standing ovation, a sing along closer cover of Led Zepplin’s “Your Time Is Gonna Come” and a surprise appearance by the talking pickle.

After the show and indefatigable Matt and Grace signed autographs and met fans until well after midnight.

What an awesome afternoon and evening - The Posse was duly Rocked and we helped in our small way to contribute to the Concerts for the Cause. This band is just so damn much fun both on and off stage - and hearing Jen step out from backstage again both for her own great set of music, but also a cameo with Grace on Go Down Low was a great highlight too!

I was at the Manchester show (first time there and first time GPN show). It’s a beautiful theater and (luckily) quite comfortably cool on Fri. Thanks for mentioning the Zep song, they also played it Fri, but I couldn’t remember which one. They also did a little tribute to Bo Diddley, who died last week.

Holy f’n $#i%! What an amazing weekend. I can’t imagine how it could have gotten much better (okay, I can, but none of it’s plausible).

I think it’s important to remember Scott’s quote from Friday night “I need more pickle in the monitor.” I have no idea why it’s important, it just is.

Not important enough to say at the height of everyone’s excitement, and maybe not even now, but indefatigable is another great word for them.

The Manchester/Lebanon high lasted almost all week - suffering from withdrawal today and hoping for some audio crumbs.
The excellent pics and making a room reservation for Skowhegan helps . . . :]
