That’s a fair opinion. People are of course free to listen in any compressed form that they want, just as they are when they rip CDs or download songs off of iTunes. But I don’t think you should be pushing MP3 over FLAC/WAV as you are with the link to the Archive, because a lossy format does degrade the quality of the music. That’s why MP3 is not consistent with etree standards (etree supports both of the web sites to which you linked). Also, WAV can be burned onto CD or downloaded onto an iPod.

Obviously, flac and wav files are sonically superior to MP3’s. My opinion, however, is that music is meant to be enjoyed. If folks want to pop a CD into a car or take music with them on their iPod they need to use a supported format.

Are they missing something? Absolutely. Is it VERY IMPORTANT? I don’t think so.

Just my opinion. The band has an open taping policy, not a distribution one.

Download the FLAC files and convert them to WAV. Don’t spread shows as MP3s.

Portsmouth was my first GPTN concert and am now solidly one of you who will preach the “you Have to experience them live” mantra. It was worth every minute of my long drive and will do it again in a heartbeat. Grace mentioned they have been recording while on this tour and the show was being professionally filmed that night so new offerings coming relatively soon maybe ?

Just noticed the Asheville date on the right – love the city and The Orange Peel is a far cry from the Music Hall but there is something “in the air” of that old shabby SRO room that makes me think there will be magic that night. Resisting the urge to check airfare !

OoLA LA – tasty indeed – Love the Lady’s take on both the iconic male songs – Steven Tyler’s Sweet emotion and Neil’s down by the river magnificently backed up by the guys. And the rework on Paris – while I liked the old – the new “Stevie Wonderesque” sound to the new is very cool too.
