Grace Potter and the Nocturnals review from Flagstaff, AZ

Shots were thrown back as the night wore on, and GP&N hit their bluesy apex during “Nothing But The Water,” where the ten- minute plus ramble was well received up in Flagstaff, but its jammy excursions including a drum circle or in this case a “drum square” involving all four members might have been accepted elsewhere as “self indulgent.” However, it was a dominating encore version of Neil Young’s “Down By The River” featuring a blistering solo by Scott Tournet that ended the night in commanding fashion.

when I first saw this show scheduled – I was jazzed for a Friday night at the Mogollon, one of my Flagstaff favorites.
Alas, it was not be a trip we could make this time.
glad to hear it was sold out – after a great opening set for Gov’t Mule in early Nov, they surely made an impression on the music fans in Flagstaff. We’ll continue looking forward to a single set of GPTN at MMMF end of April – see you there – up front next to the B-3 !
