Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are a “taper friendly” band which means there are plenty of live recordings available out there to listen to and enjoy. Still, we know many people who are simply overwhelmed by words like “BitTorrent” and “flac files” and can’t manage to listen to live sets.

I was looking at the set list from Workplay a few days ago and I was impressed by the number of quiet songs the band performed that night. The quality of the recording is excellent thanks to Jeff Hatcher (credited below). For those of you who want to download the show directly it’s up on btree at this URL.

If you’re challenged by all this - here is a direct link to a downloadable zip archive (152MB) of the entire show converted to MP3 files. I know, I know - converting to MP3 kills the quality of yadda yadda yadda. Download the raw flac files if you feel that way. In the meantime - feel free to experience the live performances directly on your MP3 player. This is a fantastic sample of what the band sounds like live right now.

I was blown away with the new “Angel Band” > “Big White Gate” > “Angel Band” progression. You might recall that Grace sat in with Warren Haynes on this song a few times on the Gov’t Mule tour. Nice to see it being incorporated in the latest set in a very moving way.
